Fruit is something that I always make sure I have in abundance; I love nothing more than snacking on a fresh fruit salad or crunchy apple. But, you know what it’s like, sometimes I buy a little bit too much because well everything looks so good. Or I forget about that pack of berries at the back of the fridge. And suddenly the fresh fruit doesn’t seem too fresh.
Now, if you know me you know that I HATE food wastage; it’s something I try to avoid at all costs. So, if I can, I will usually find a way to use up the less than perfect produce. One of my favourite ways to do that is to make fresh fruit smoothies.
Smoothies are a great way to sneak in a few extra fruit and veggies into your diet and if I can I always use fresh fruit. It has a lot more flavour than frozen fruit and I think that the overall taste is a lot stronger.
This smoothie contains the ingredients that I had left over in my fruit bowl one afternoon,. And the result was so good I had to share! The smoothie uses ingredients that most people will have in their kitchens. Well, I’m not too sure how many have passion fruits as a staple but thanks to an obsessed Bo I have them all the time! It’s also packed full of Vitamin C thanks to the orange, berries and passion fruit; meaning it’s the perfect pick me up for the flu season.
This makes about 2 small cups or 1 (very) large cup worth, so you can either save some for later or if you’re feeling generous you can share it with someone else. It’s quick and easy to make as well as being truly scrumptious.
